How to Reach Srinagar: The Journey to Heaven on Earth

Posted On: Aug 8, 2026 | Posted By: Dare2Gear    0  0

There’s a place where the mountains kiss the sky, where shikaras glide like dreams on silent lakes, and where every sunset feels like a poem. That place is Srinagar — the heart of Kashmir.
Getting there? Well, reaching paradise should feel a little magical, and trust me, it does.

If You’re Coming From Delhi (Or Nearby Cities)

Delhi to Srinagar is one of the most beautiful transitions you’ll ever experience — from city chaos to a land where time slows down.

By Air:
The easiest, quickest, and honestly the most breathtaking way.

Direct flights from Delhi to Srinagar Airport (Sheikh ul-Alam Airport) take just about 1.5 hours.

The moment you step out of the airport, the cool air and towering mountains welcome you. Flights also run from Chandigarh, Jammu, and Amritsar if you’re closer.

By Road:
Feeling adventurous? You can drive!

Start from Delhi → Jammu → Udhampur → Patnitop → Jawahar Tunnel → Srinagar.

It’s about 800 km, and takes around 16–18 hours.

The road after Jammu winds through valleys, tunnels, and endless mountain views — every turn will make you want to stop and stare.

By Train:
Here’s a secret: Srinagar doesn’t have a fully connected railway line yet.

You can take a train till Jammu (Jammu Tawi station) from Delhi.

From Jammu, it’s a 6–7 hour drive or a shared cab ride through mesmerizing landscapes to Srinagar.

Coming from Other Cities?

From Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Jaipur:
The simplest way is to catch a flight — either direct to Srinagar or via Delhi.
Some people love breaking their journey: Mumbai/Jaipur to Delhi → fly or road trip to Srinagar for that full experience.

Whether you choose to fly high above snow-capped peaks or weave your way through misty valleys and rivers, reaching Srinagar is like entering another world.
The journey isn’t just about miles — it’s about leaving behind the noise and stepping into a living postcard.

By the time you breathe in that first whiff of crisp, apple-scented air, you’ll know: it was all worth it.
